Rachel katzman

Chicago based artist Rachel Katzman has been drawing since she was able to hold a crayon. Having never trained formally in visual art, she attributes her only legitimate artistic training to the 8 years she spent standing nude in art classes across the chicago land area, over hearing the various tips and tidbits of other local artists. Choosing to focus her education on music, vocals and hebrew, Rachel pushed art to the side until January 2009 when she started MadamePlatypus, a line of cards, prints and whimsical jewelry that she creates in her home studio. She currently does a wide variety of fairs and festivals, and sells in various local shops. Simultaneously, Rachel is in the midst of recording her first barebones, bilingual solo/acoustic CD, due out late this fall.
